New Jersey Emergency Transformer Replacement
Barnhart's Hake team was asked to assist in an emergency transformer replacement at a New Jersey nuclear generating station. As with all emergency remove and replace situations, the team moved quickly - mobilized in less than 24 hours. Initial planning included arranging barge transport of the replacement transformer.
Many challenges were overcome, including gale force winds stirring up 9+ foot seas requiring us to seek safe harbor while en route. Despite all issues, the load arrived at the roll-off site in approximately in 56 hours.
The scope included a roll-off along the north shore of the plant discharge canal, transport to site, trans-load to a second 12-line Goldhofer THP prepped with slide track, transport into the protected area, jack and slide to pad, lower, and rough set to benchmarks.
